My Life in WordsEverything interesting I do, I write about here.

I have had many acting experiences over the past ten years, but perhaps my favourite to date is a music video which was shot back in early 2012. It was produced by Tall Man Short Man Films, and was an entry for a music video competition by leading band Mona run through Genero TV, my role was the lead male actor, and to say the least it was a bit of a whirlwind experience, Tall Man Short Man Films Jamie Korn messaged me out of the blue looking for a male lead, stating that the shoot was in two days. The job was of course unpaid, I was just acting for fun and was not a trained actor so would never expect it to be anything else, but they did kindly offer to pay expenses due to the sheer distance of the shoot location from where I lived – I live in the Newcastle/Gateshead region and the music radio was to be filmed at a remote beach name Seahouses, which is over an hour’s drive away. The competition was to create a video narrative for Mona’s hit song Lean into the Fall, the winning entry would become the official music video for the song. The entry unfortunately did not win, but it was a finalist and I am most proud of the fact that the band made the following comments: "This felt like it could have been a short film. Great acting and loved the overall feel. A quality piece of filmmaking." In terms of the experience of shooting, it took about half a day and to say it was freezing cold would be an understatement, what made it worse was the fact that the trousers that the wardrobe department had sorted for me were far too small, therefore to say that they were tight would be an understatement. A funny story in regards to those trousers, when the head of wardrobe saw me she said that she was afraid that the trousers would be too big, and got quite the shock when the reverse was the case. All I can say in regards to that is that I never miss leg day. All in all it was a great experience, and as I’ve said in the past I would recommend anyone give acting a go even if only once. In terms of how to get involved with projects like this, Starnow is a great place also check out Facebook for any local film groups, if you enjoy the world of film and acting you won’t regret it. I’ve attached the video below, and remember, stay safe and if you love something make sure you have a go at doing that something! |
